Gardendale Magnolia Festival
The Total Family Experience

The Gardendale Magnolia Festival is presented by the city of Gardendale under the department of Parks and Recreation. Kathleen Phillips is the Event Coordinator.

Our mission is to provide visitors with an inexpensive, family-friendly experience, promote local businesses, tourism, and volunteerism in the Greater Gardendale area. The proceeds of the festival benefit college scholarships for high school seniors.

Beginning in 2012, GMF will also benefit two charities each year. This year the charities are Cornerstone Ranch (a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to developing self-esteem and character in the lives of youth in need through recreational activities and Faith-based programs.) and Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (all research money stays in Alabama).

Volunteerism is highly promoted and rewarded in the Gardendale Magnolia Festival. We believe in teaching children the importance of volunteering at an early age through our GES Volunteer Program called The Giving Tree; Giving Back To Our Community. Students log their volunteer efforts all year. The class in each school with the highest participation receives a pizza party hosted by Miss Gardendale Magnolia Festival. The overall teacher in all 3 schools is rewarded and the student with the overall highest participation receives a trophy and an armband to the festival carnival.

In order to qualify to apply for the GMF scholarships, each applicant must complete at least 3 hours of volunteerism for the festival.

The festival also recognizes two Volunteers of the Year; one high school student and one adult.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
